PTE Program Structure
The PTE Program is structured around AIM’s philosophy that regardless of a person’s job function it is imperative they understand each of the four core disciplines of the injection molding industry: Plastic Materials, Mold Design & Engineering, Injection Molding, and Part Design. Students who successfully complete all four courses and pass each of the four tests are awarded an accredited Plastics Technology and Engineering Certificate recognizing their achievement.
The rigor of the PTE Program is similar to courses in a university degree program as each course is equivalent to a 3-credit course.

The PTE Program’s format was designed around AIM’s unique Learning Model, which maximizes knowledge retention. The program runs as follows:
-
-
- Four week-long courses at the AIM Institute.
- Each weekly course is followed by eight-to-ten weeks of homework and interactive online review meetings.
- When students return to AIM for their next course, they will begin by taking a test on their current topic before moving on.
- The entire program usually takes about ten months to complete, and we do allow flexibility for students needing more time to complete the program.

Proven Results
The PTE Program is proven to improve knowledge and skills. This graph shows how program graduates scored on our Enrollment Evaluation before and after completing the PTE program.
This data shows that the PTE Program increases a person’s knowledge in all areas of plastic injection molding. Just a few of the benefits include reduced on-boarding time for new employees and significantly improved knowledge and skills for your existing workforce.
By providing students with a well-rounded education, program graduates are able to:
-
- Apply higher-level critical thinking skills
- Solve problems they could not solve before
- Identify and resolve issues before they occur
- Understand all aspects of what it takes to injection mold a plastic part
- Communicate more effectively across all departments
- Bring innovative ideas to their company
- Be more confident in their job roles
- Improve part quality
- Optimize injection molding cycle times

Advisory Board and Accreditation
AIM voluntarily underwent the accreditation process for our PTE programs because we recognized that our industry lacked any external certifying body reviewing its educational programs. There should be someone other than the training provider evaluating its claims of quality on a regular basis to ensure what the company is saying is true. Learn More
In addition to our accreditation and having an instructor team with significant real-world plastics industry experience, AIM also utilizes an Advisory Board of industry professionals who provide feedback on the program, learning outcomes, and method of instruction.
We consistently improve our courses based on this feedback to ensure that the Molders’ Series program delivers valuable content accurately and in a manner that is most beneficial for our students and their employers. Learn More
